Of all the great couturiers of the second half of the 20th century, Yves Saint Laurent is undoubtedly the one who most profoundly shaped the way colour is conceived in couture. Nourished by his passion for Matisse, Bonnard, Mondrian, North Africa and the Ballets Russes, YSL made print into a true language — a space where the wardrobe converses with painting, textile craftsmanship and travel.
