Created in 1934 by Gaston-Louis Vuitton, the Alma takes its name from the Pont de l'Alma in Paris, from which it borrows its structured lines and Art Deco elegance. Its dome-shaped, structured and instantly recognisable silhouette rests on codes that have become the model's signature: rounded handles, the double zip running from end to end, the padlock and its clochette. Unlike the house's soft bags, the Alma stands on its own — it is a bag that keeps its shape, whether set down or carried.

The PM size is its most balanced version: roomy enough for a full day, yet structured enough to remain elegant. The very spacious interior holds an iPad, diary, continental wallet, cosmetic pouch, AirPods and a phone without the bag losing its shape. The zip is functional and secures the whole bag, with padlock and keys to match.

Here it comes in Monogram coated canvas, the house's most recognisable pattern, with handles, trim and a base in natural vachetta leather. This leather, left untreated when it leaves the workshop, gradually darkens through contact with light and hands: this one has developed a lovely, even patina, a sign of a bag that has been carried and well cared for. The canvas is clean, and the gold-tone brass hardware has the light patina expected of a piece of this age. Its date code FL**** dates it to 2002.
