Description & history
A Dior long necklace from the 1980s–1990s · openwork heart set with ruby rhinestones on a 70 cm gold-coloured chain · romantic opulence of French couture jewellery at its height.
Christian Dior founded his house in 1946 with an obsession for detail and an absolute belief in ornamental femininity. The heart has been a recurring motif in the Dior universe since the beginning — Monsieur Dior himself was superstitious, attached to symbols, and the heart would span every era of the house. In the 1980s, under the direction of Marc Bohan and then with the arrival of Gianfranco Ferré in 1989, Dior produced costume jewellery of remarkable formal richness: rhinestones, gilding, sculptural forms, red and gold everywhere. Pieces designed to be seen, to make a statement.
This long necklace features a 3 cm openwork heart pendant, finely set with ruby-coloured rhinestones on gold-plated metal, suspended from a 70 cm chain fastened with a lobster clasp bearing the Dior hallmark. Good vintage condition — light age-related signs of wear visible in the photos, with no impact on its appearance when worn. Supplied with a RARR Vintage box and certificate of authenticity.
