Launched in 2017 by Karl Lagerfeld in tribute to Gabrielle Chanel, the Gabrielle line marked a shift in the house’s leather goods wardrobe: rather than the smooth calfskin or lambskin used for the Classic and Boy lines, Karl chose aged calfskin — leather treated to have, from the outset, the patinated, more matte and more textured appearance that other leathers take years to acquire. A choice that reflects a philosophy: Gabrielle pieces are not meant to be protected, but worn, with every mark becoming a chapter. This card holder perfectly embodies that spirit with its graphic two-tone design — quilted navy blue diamonds echoing the vocabulary of the 2.55 bag, a smooth black leather base providing a more understated counterpoint, and the aged gold-tone interlocking CC logo uniting the two. Three card slots, one central note slot and silver hot-stamped marking inside: everything is designed for real everyday use, in an ultra-compact format that slips just as easily into a mini evening bag, a coat pocket or the inner organiser of a tote.
