Description & history
Off-white background, diagonal peach chains, Italian silk — this vintage Gucci tie is the bright, summery version of an equestrian motif that the Florentine house has mastered since its beginnings.
The chain motif is one of the pillars of Gucci’s graphic vocabulary. Inherited from the equestrian world on which the house was founded — Guccio Gucci began by making saddlery and riding accessories in Florence in 1921 — it has spanned the decades in different forms: bits, stirrups, interlocking chains. On this tie from the 1990s–2000s, it takes the form of a repeated diagonal chain on an off-white background, in a soft peach-orange tone that contrasts with the darker versions usually associated with this motif. The result is a house tie unlike any other — recognisable to those in the know, surprising to everyone else.
The light palette — white and peach — makes it the quintessential warm-weather tie, to wear with a beige linen suit, a light grey suit or a white shirt for occasions that deserve a little character without ostentation. The silk ensures drape and lightness; the 146 × 9 cm format, slightly wider than the previous cut, creates a more generous knot and a stronger presence on the shirt.
In good vintage condition, with no stains, pulled threads or major flaws. The Gucci label is present on the reverse. Sold without its original box, with a RARR Vintage certificate of authenticity — a light, precise vintage Gucci for outfits that do not need bold colour to stand out.
