Gabrielle Chanel made the chain and pearl her defining aesthetic obsessions. The chain — in gold-tone metal, interwoven with leather — appeared as early as 1955 on the 2.55 bag. The pearl, worn in layered long necklaces by Mademoiselle herself, became a symbol of the house long before it became a motif. In the 1990s, Karl Lagerfeld transposed these iconic codes onto the house's silk scarves — a stylistic exercise that transformed Chanel symbols into wearable artworks. This scarf is a direct expression of that: a graphic, opulent staging of Chanel's DNA, printed on silk with the precision of a poster.
