A Chanel CC brooch from Autumn-Winter 1988 · gold-plated metal, raised double C, radiating ridged background · the house logo reduced to its essence, without compromise.
In 1983, Karl Lagerfeld became Chanel's creative director and entrusted costume jewellery to Victoire de Castellane from 1984. Together, they redefined the house's jewellery: pieces became more assertive, and the double CC was presented as a motif in its own right rather than a simple signature. It was during this period — between 1984 and 1990 — that some of the Chanel jewellery pieces most sought after by collectors were produced. The season-code dating system, introduced by de Castellane, now makes it possible to identify each piece from this period precisely.
This round brooch, 3.5 cm in diameter, features a raised double CC on a radiating ridged gold-plated metal background. Pin fastening on the back. Chanel hallmark engraved on the back with serial number 1188 corresponding to the Autumn-Winter 1988 collection, Made in France. Even gold plating, good overall condition, no major flaws. Supplied with a RARR Vintage box and certificate of authenticity.
