In 2003, Marc Jacobs, then artistic director of Louis Vuitton, invited Japanese artist Takashi Murakami to reinterpret the Monogram. From this meeting came the Monogram Multicolore: the LV initials and iconic flowers, previously rendered in brown, lit up in 33 colours on a black or white background. The collection was a resounding success and became one of the symbols of 2000s luxury. Now discontinued, it has become a true archive piece, prized by collectors.
This compact wallet captures all of its energy on a deep black background, enhanced by natural cowhide leather trims that have developed an even, warm patina. The bifold format, both slim and complete, includes 6 card slots, a banknote compartment and a coin compartment — everything needed to organise the essentials in an item that slips into even the smallest bag. Made in France in 2005.
