Created in 1934 by Gaston-Louis Vuitton, the Alma takes its name from the Pont de l'Alma in Paris, whose structured lines and Art Deco elegance it borrows. Its domed silhouette, poised and instantly recognisable, rests on features that have become the model's signature: rounded “toron” handles, the double zip running from end to end, the padlock and its clochette. It is one of the house's most classic and ladylike bags — an object that transcends eras without ever going out of style.

Modern versions of the Alma, such as this 2013 example, stand out for two practical details added over time: metal feet at the base, which protect the cowhide leather from wear and dirt, and a leather clochette containing the padlock keys. Here, the Monogram canvas is clean and has no flaws to report, while the natural cowhide leather has developed a beautiful even light patina — darker on the handles, where the hand rests — that sought-after living ageing found on period pieces.

Good overall condition, grade B- — clean coated canvas, lovely leather patina, patina also present on the hardware, functional zip closure, interior in good condition with signs of previous use, documented in the photos.
