Donner la Main is one of Karen Petrossian's most immediately recognisable Hermès carrés. Created in 2002, the design depicts men and women from around the world holding hands and forming a large circular composition together. The pattern thus transforms the silk carré into a true graphic scene, populated by figures in varied clothing and silhouettes.
At the centre, the figures appear to form a circle around a sun-like composition, while the borders and geometric elements gradually structure the design. The richness of the pattern is especially apparent when unfolded: each part of the carré brings its own small figures, details and colours, giving the scarf remarkable visual depth.
This version stands out for its particularly fresh and luminous palette. Turquoise dominates the composition and interacts with anise green, yellow, white and several shades of blue and purple. The overall effect is highly colourful, almost joyful, allowing the scarf to be worn as a true statement piece while retaining the elegance inherent to Hermès creations.
