Christian Dior never needed an abstract monogram: the house made its own signature its emblem. The word “Dior”, written in the fine, slightly slanted typeface that has remained unchanged since 1947, functions as a logo in its own right — you read it and recognise it in the same instant. It is more direct than an interlaced numeral, and more elegant than a single initial.

This necklace makes it its sole motif. The name is openworked in the gold-tone metal, cut out letter by letter and placed at the centre of an oval medallion; all around it, a halo of clear rhinestones set one by one frames it and catches the light. The background is left open, making the pendant lighter and allowing the skin to show through — a detail that changes everything about how the jewel is worn.

The fine, supple chain is adjustable from 36 to 41.5 cm. Set at its shortest length, it positions the pendant as a choker, like a daytime necklace; lengthened, it falls just below the collarbone for a dressier look. The lobster clasp opens with one hand, and a small charm at the end of the chain bears the house hallmark. The gold plating has remained perfectly even, with no worn or tarnished areas — rare for a jewel of this kind.
