The Single Flap remains the archetypal Chanel bag, worn by generations since the 2.55 of 1955. On this example, the chevron quilting in smooth calfskin offers a more graphic interpretation than traditional diamond quilting, while the CC medallion suspended from the chain — a detail the house has offered across several generations of Single Flaps — signs the piece. The CC turnlock clasp bears the “Chanel Paris” hallmark, one of the authenticity marks most sought after by collectors of vintage pieces. The black cotton twill lining, more structured than suede, is characteristic of Chanel interiors from this period.
