Description & history
A Chanel bandana scarf in 100% cotton · pastel aqua background · macarons and CC logos in freehand line drawings · pink border · hand-rolled hems · 58 × 58 cm.
Under Karl Lagerfeld's creative direction, Chanel regularly allowed itself playful, pop moments in its spring-summer collections, where the couture vocabulary — CC, camellia, chain — met more whimsical motifs: hearts, ice creams, macarons, shells and daisies. This scarf comes from that gourmand, summery vein, featuring on very light cotton voile a composition of macarons and small cakes in freehand line drawings with a watercolour effect, punctuated by pastel CC logos scattered across the background. The palette — fresh aqua enhanced with yellow, orange, pink and powder blue — evokes the house's mid-season collections, Italian ice creams and terrace cafés. The choice of cotton, a rarer material than silk in Chanel's scarf wardrobe, makes it an accessory specifically designed for summer: light, breathable and almost transparent, it can be tied over sun-kissed skin above a white shirt, worn in the hair as a 1990s-style headscarf, or tied to the handles of a basket or canvas tote. The 58 × 58 cm format, smaller than the classic large square, invites graphic knots and a light presence — one that adds colour without ever weighing an outfit down.
